Workshop by Vasyl Yukhnovskyire, Professor of forestry science at the University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (Kiev), promoted by the Center of Plant Sciences and the Agrobiodiversity Doctoral School of Sant'Anna School

On Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 6 p.m. in classroom 2 at Palazzo Toscanelli, Sant'Anna School will host Vasyl Yukhnovskyire, professor of Forestry at the University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, Kiev. The visit to Sant'Anna is an opportunity to present a seminar on sustainable land use in the development of agroforestry practices, that is, practices that combine agriculture with forestry.

The Center of Plant Sciences of Sant'Anna School, which hosts Vasyl Yukhnovskyire, is active on these research topics in an effort to increase knowledge of the ecological and agronomic services generated by agroforestry systems, promoting a more sustainable and resilient model of agriculture. Such research activity appears increasingly important and necessary, even in the context of the tragic Ukrainian conflict and the European grain and energy crisis.

Alberto Mantino, researcher at the Center of Plant Sciences of the Sant'Anna School and president of the Italian Association for Agroforestry, in announcing this appointment, declares: "We are excited to host Vasyl Yukhnovskyire and to contribute to the conversation on current issues such as sustainable management of agro-ecosystems in the global framework of the climate crisis. In the context of the ongoing geopolitical crisis, science has a role to dialogue and lay the groundwork for a more equitable and shared development".

The workshop is held in English.
